Bizzy Bitz 350 pcs builder set

Autumn is a beautiful season to explore the outdoors. Yet when it's raining non-stop, you find yourself spending more time indoors. Books, DVDs, board games and construction sets all come handy for keeping your kids entertained. Bizzy Bitz is a colourful range of building toys. My younger son Eddie knows it from school (they have a big box of Bizzy Bitz in Reception), and he was very enthusiastic when I told him we were going to receive a Bizzy Bitz 350 pcs builder set.

This super duper 3-dimensional set includes a big variety of shapes and colours - square and round tiles, wheels, cogs, smiley faces, triangles, rectangles in yellow, red, purple, blue, green and gold.

A brilliant tool for imaginative play, it is suited for the age group between 4-9 years. I might be (ahem, considerably) older than that, but I enjoyed playing with Eddie. We built a windmill together, following the instructions in a booklet.

At the moment Eddie is not keen to disassemble it to build another bigger model, though he did play with the remaining shapes and did creations of his own, mostly vehicles for his favourite mini-figures.
The opportunities are endless, of course. The only limit is your imagination, and of course, the amount of shapes.
I thought that 350 pieces would be plenty, but one model took a lot of details, so if we wanted to build another model from the booklet, we'd definitely need to deconstruct our windmill.

There is a guitar that Eddie wants to build, once he gets bored playing with the windmill.
The blurb says: "This range supports key developmental needs and has educational benefits through fun play."
There are different sets in the range, and they are all compatible with each other.
And once you finished playing, put all the pieces back in a sturdy transparent plastic box.
The pieces slot and fit with each other via a system of mini-balls and sockets. They are easily connected and can be rotated at 360 degrees, how cool is that?!

When your children are playing with Bizzy Bitz, they are learning lots of skills. This range is OFSTED-endorsed.
Let's look at the list of educational benefits as mentioned on the box:
- Stimulates imagination
- Improves fine motor skills
- Helps concentration
- Enhances problem solving skills
- Improves spatial awareness
- Encourages creative play
- Explores basic engineering skills

I'm not surprised that this range is a multi-award winner.

If you are looking for Christmas gift ideas, Bizzy Bitz will make a splendid present for any child aged 4-8 years.

Disclosure: I received the toy set for the purposes of testing and reviewing. All opinions are Eddie's and mine.
